***Affiliate Leader Steps – Sign-Up as Voter Country Affiliate ***
STEP 1 - The Affiliate Leader should fill out and submit the Required Affiliate Data on the Voter Country “Become an Affiliate” page.
The leader’s email should be used since reporting will be sent to this email address and will need to be handled securely. The homepage of your website should be used since users will be referred back to your website to find your Citizen’s Pledge and Voter Registration tools, based on the URL that you use at sign-up.
STEP 2 - You will receive a confirming e-mail from Voter Country – click on the embedded link to confirm your registration. (Check your spam filter if you don’t get this e-mail in a few moments.)
STEP 3 - When your application is approved (this is done manually and may take a few hours), you will receive a welcome email from Voter Country with instructions regarding how to easily install both the Voter Registration and Citizen’s Pledge tools on your website. If you are not the webmaster, forward this welcome email to your webmaster to assist with installing these tools on your website.
Note to Webmaster: You must have your organization’s welcome e-mail to proceed because it contains your customized HTML code snippets for these tools that will uniquely identify your organization. If you did not receive this welcome e-mail, check with your group leader or if your email was used at sign up, check your spam folder and add the domain votercountry.com as a trusted sender. You can also send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and request that we resend it.
STEP 4 - Create 2 new web pages, one for Voter Registration and the other for the Citizen’s Pledge. These pages should be on the same website as the URL that was used to sign up as a Voter Country Affiliate.
STEP 5.a. – Copy and paste your first customized Voter Country HTML code snippet from the welcome email into the HTML of your Voter Registration webpage. Save and publish this page to your website.
STEP 5.b. – Copy and paste your second customized Voter Country HTML code snippet from the welcome email into the HTML of your Citizen’s Pledge webpage. Save and publish this page to your website.
STEP 6 – Add the links pointing to each of your new web pages containing the Voter Registration and Citizen’s Pledge tools on your homepage and/or navigation menu. Voter Country strongly recommends that you use the Voter Country image buttons for your links to the Voter Registration and Citizen’s Pledge tools, and place the links to both of these tools directly on your home page for maximum visibility. These are the same Register to Vote and Take the Citizen’s Pledge buttons that are found on the Voter Country home page, which will clearly identify your new web tools to your members.
You can find these images here.
Example to create a link button for the Voter Registration tool:
<a href=”http://mywebsite/register” target=”_self”><img src=”http://votercountry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/registervote200x80.jpg”/></a>
Example to create a link button for the Citizen’s Pledge tool:
<a href=”https://mywebsite/pledge“><img src=”http://votercountry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/CitizensPledgeButton200x40.jpg”/></a>
VERY IMPORTANT: If you copy these examples, make sure that you replace the text “http://mywebsite/register” and “http://mywebsite/pledge” with the full URLs of the new web pages that you created for the Voter Registration and Citizen’s Pledge tools!
Click one of the images below to see it work (click your browser back button to get back to this page):
If you decide that you would rather place these links on a different page within your website, just send an e-mail to email@example.com (or reply to the welcome email) with the URL containing your links to these tools and we’ll update our system. For security purposes, you must use the original e-mail address that was used to sign up as an Affiliate. Please include the primary contact name, organization name, and original URL that were used to sign up, as well as the new URL where you placed the links to the Voter Registration and Citizen’s Pledge tools.
